THE ENERGY RING - SCIENCE MUSEUM
The Energy Ring at the Science Museum is 13 metres in diameter and hangs in the main atrium space of the East Hall. The ring has LED strips on the inner circumference and a stabilising horizontal arm which extends at the top. Messages and graphics flashed up on the LED display scroll around and draw the reader's eye up to the floors above.
The project quickly evolved into the resolution of two fundamental issues: what was the ring to be made of and how could we install it in such a precious and confined space?
